Facilities
SRI's 63-acre main campus is in Silicon Valley, specifically in Menlo Park, California. The campus buildings encompass more than 1.3 million square feet. We also have locations across the U.S. and internationally, including a 254-acre campus in Princeton, New Jersey with 600,000 square feet, a facility in the Washington, D.C. area, and offices in Tokyo, Japan, for a total of more than 2.3 million square feet of office, laboratory, and R&D space.
Specialized equipment and facilities at various locations include the following:
- Foundries: for optoelectronics (lasers) and integrated circuits
- Machine/model shops (fully equipped)
- Prototype manufacturing capabilities
- Clean rooms: more than 27,000 sq. ft., Class 10 and up
- Flexible, dedicated, secure spaces for large projects
- Helistops (2)
- Microfabrication facilities
- Materials characterization and testing facilities
- Ceramics processing laboratories
- Molecular graphics laboratory
- Mobile communication laboratories
- High-performance laser systems laboratory
- High-speed networking testbed
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility
- Medical
product development facilities
- Poulter
Laboratory (studying the dynamic response of materials and structures
to impacts, explosions, fatigue, corrosion, and fire)
- Remote test site
- Reaction calorimetry facility (for calorimetric
investigation of reactive systems, including those that occur under
potentially hazardous conditions)
- Space and atmospheric research facilities, including Sondrestrom Research Facility; Arecibo Observatory; Advanced Modular Incoherent Scatter Radar facilities; SRI's
"Dish" radio telescope
