SRI's Health Sciences Section brings together researchers from SRI's Center for Health Sciences and our Center for Neuroscience and Metabolic Diseases. This combination offers clients and partners integrated, bench-to-bedside capabilities for their government agency, commercial, and foundation clients.

The Center for Health Sciences carries out basic research, conducts health surveys and long-term tracking of study populations, performs assessments, and more. Center staff includes experts in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropsychiatry, clinical psychology, MR physics and neuroimaging, aging research, human sleep, twins research, psychophysiology, behavioral pharmacology, molecular genetics, genetic epidemiology, addiction, biostatistics, and public health.

The Center for Neuroscience and Metabolic Diseases conducts basic and translational research to advance drug research and development programs. Areas of focus include sleep and circadian rhythms, cognition, pain, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, obesity, osteoporosis, and type II diabetes. Center researchers use methodologies such as molecular biology, electrophysiology, microdialysis, and behavioral testing in their work.
