Andrew Bergen

Andrew Bergen, Ph.D., is the director of the Molecular Genetics Program in the Center for Health Sciences at SRI International. In this role, he directs studies of biomarkers and the genetic bases of complex traits, such as smoking behaviors.

Bergen has extensive experience in cancer genetics and epidemiology. Prior to joining SRI, he was a staff scientist in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute. Earlier, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship there.

He received his Ph.D. from George Washington University, an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. from Haverford College.
