Frances Bergland
Frances Bergland, a senior project manager in SRI International’s Center for Education and Human Services, has more than 19 years of experience providing project management expertise for research on issues in disability policy and human services. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, data management, project organization, resource management, procedure development, budget tracking, problem solving, coordinating, and overseeing large data collections.
She has worked closely with database developers to develop Web-based data systems for numerous large-scale projects to help teams schedule and manage site visits as well as track and oversee large data collections. She has served as site liaison, has done qualitative data collection, and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
Bergland has a wide range of experience managing large-scale data collections. She co-led the assessment data collection components for both the Special Education Elementary Longitudinal Study (SEELS) and National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2). She managed the data collection for Evaluation of Educational Technology Interventions (EETI) and provided project management expertise and support to the National Writing Project (WPD) and Striving Readers Project.
Bergland currently oversees the data collection for the National Effectiveness Study of First Step to Success, a large-scale assessment of the effectiveness of the early intervention program that helps children who are at risk for developing or who demonstrate antisocial or aggressive behaviors. She is also handling the day-to-day operations for the ENHANCE project, which is designed to improve the quality of child outcomes data.
Bergland has translated questionnaires, letters, and other materials for several projects and interviewed Spanish-speaking study participants and conducted focus groups in Spanish.
Bergland holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Menlo College, Menlo Park, California.
