Meet Our People
SRI's innovative thinking depends directly on the people who work here. Meet members of our team in Computing and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and Materials, Drug Discovery, Drug Development and Health, Economics and Education, Environment and Energy, Business Development, and Administration and Corporate Activities, and learn why they joined SRIyou may discover that you would like to join the team, too. Visit Careers @ SRI for descriptions of current openings.
Meet Sandy Hinzmann, Manager, Staff Programs & Transportation, also known as the Fun & Games Department
Focus @ SRI:
Help staff enjoy life more by providing convenient ways to balance the demands of their work and personal lives. We handle SRI subsidies for employees who use public transit, offer a place to escape from the work environment, provide information and special prices on tickets and entertainment options, and arrange for onsite amenities.
Day in the Life @ SRI:
It depends on which day! It ranges from writing the Scene at SRI, which reports on corporate information and staff activities, to making popcorn on Fridays, or looking for new services to provide to staff. Our latest convenience is an onsite nail service, to go along with the hair salon, massage therapy, and dry cleaning pickup.
Before SRI:
I taught first and second graders. Coming to SRI was a real eye opener!
Academics:
BA in education from the University of California at Santa Barbara, United States Golf Association (USGA) Rules Certified
Why SRI?
Where else can you meet such interesting people and so many who play golf?
Inspiration and Motivation:
Knowing I can help people enjoy life more is very rewarding.
Away from the Office:
Did I mention that I golf? I am also a Northern California Golf Association golf rules official, and I work at or run local tournaments. When possible, I volunteer at PGA or LPGA events.
Favorite Book:
Decisions on the Rules of Golf, published by the USGA. It provides many hours of fascinating reading.
Proudest Accomplishment:
Having a "birdie" on the fourth hole at the Spyglass Hill Golf Course on California's Monterey Peninsula. Not sure I'll ever get that elusive hole-in-one.
Words of Wisdom for New SRI Team Members:
Work hard, play hard, and be sure to keep both in balance. And if you're a golfer, I'd love to meet you!
