Kenneth J. Gollob, Ph.D., is a senior scientist with the Tropical Disease Research Program in the Center for Infectious Disease and Biodefense Research at SRI International. In this role, he focuses on human host–pathogen interactions, studying mechanisms of pathology and protection in parasitic and infectious diseases. He is primarily focused on leishmaniasis and Chagas disease research in the laboratory and field - interacting with clinicians in endemic areas and collecting human samples.

Gollob has more than 15 years’ experience in immunology, immunoregulation of cellular responses, T-cell responses and development, immuno-mediated pathology, flow cytometry-based assays, and analysis of human data sets from studies evaluating immunological and clinical parameters. He has numerous research papers published.

He currently holds a joint appointment with the Graduate Program in Biomedicine and Medicine, Hospital Santa Casa in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Prior to joining SRI, Gollob led an internationally recognized research group at the Department of Biochemistry-Immunology, UFMG, Brazil.

Gollob received his Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, and his B.S. in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado-Boulder. His postdoctoral work was performed at DNAX Research Institute, followed by a visiting scientist position at the CDC, Division of Parasitic Diseases, and a year as a visiting associate professor at Stanford University.
