Meet Nancy Moy, Research Analyst, Federal Business Development, SRI in Washington, D.C.
Focus @ SRI:
Meeting the needs of our federal government clients
Day in the Life @ SRI:
My days are devoted to connecting our researchers and managers with the right people in the federal government agencies served by SRI. Usually, I am scheduling marketing meetings and conference calls with government program managers for SRI senior management and researchers, coordinating logistics, and compiling background materials for SRI staff members before their meetings. I also conduct market research, use SRI's internal website to alert staff to important new government opportunities, search solicitations and deadlines, and track client contacts.
Before SRI:
I came to SRI after graduating from college and have been at SRI ever since! I spent my college summers working at a market research firm conducting in-person and phone surveys and recruiting focus-group participants.
Academics:
B.S. in Marketing and International Business, University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!)
Why SRI?
This is such an innovative organization that develops technologies important to society.
Inspiration and Motivation:
Learning about the cool research SRI is conducting and knowing that I am helping my colleagues present their ideas and solutions to government clients. Working in a team atmosphere and having a manager who is always positive, upbeat, and cheers you on.
Away from the Office:
There is never a dull moment with my young family. We've spent weekends at the Delaware beaches, and I've been trying out the new meal assembly places to make dinnertime easier!
Languages:
I speak the languages of several government agencies acronyms included.
Proudest Professional Accomplishment:
My most recent accomplishment is delivering a large proposal to the client within minutes of the deadline and learning that we were awarded the contract for a large interdisciplinary project that will be important to the nation.
Words of Wisdom for New SRI Team Members:
One of the best things about my job is that I get to work with staff members all across SRI. So, get to know SRI staff outside your own team, and participate in SRI's social mixers, athletics, all-hands meetings, and "watering holes". Not only will you meet wonderful colleagues, you'll discover just what a broad and diverse place SRI is.
