Nora Sabelli of SRI International

Nora Sabelli, Ph.D. is a senior science advisor in SRI International's Center for Technology in Learning.  Prior to joining SRI International, Sabelli was senior program director for the National Science Foundation's (NSF’s) Directorate for Education and Human Resources, working on NSF-wide and cross-agency initiatives on education, technology, and science, (e.g., Learning and Intelligent Systems and the nteragency Education Research Initiative.)

At NSF, she focused on research on the use of current scientific advances and technological opportunities to provide quality science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education for all students. During that period, Sabelli worked on education issues at the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), which serves as a source of scientific and technological analysis for the President with respect to policies, plans, and programs of the federal government.

Sabelli's former positions include senior research scientist and assistant director for education at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and associate professor of chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Sabelli holds a Ph.D. in theoretical organic chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, for research performed at the University of Chicago.
