Paul Hu

Senior Programmer/Analyst, Center for Education Policy

Paul Hu is a senior scientist and programming analyst in SRI International's Center for Education Policy. He has training in the social sciences and has performed quantitative data management and analyses since 1994. He has been providing data management and statistical analysis support for the Texas High School Project, the National Evaluation of Writing Project Professional Development, the Evaluation Study of California's District Intervention and Regional Capacity Building, the Content-Rich Vocabulary Project Evaluation, Evaluation of Elementary Mathematics Curricula, the Lastinger Teacher Survey project, Teaching and California's Future, and the Online Learning Project.

Before coming to SRI, Hu worked as a data analyst in the survey research and healthcare research areas. His previous professional experience ranges from working with longitudinal labor market surveys and producing financial reports based on medical databases to analyzing results of clinical trials. His areas of interest include programming and automation, database design and management, and statistical analysis of survey data.

Hu has programming experience in SAS, SPSS, STATA and S-PLUS. He received a master's degree in English literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University and a master's degree in sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Hu is also a SAS Institute Certified Base and Advanced Programmer.
