Sushanta Mohapatra
Sushanta Mohapatra is a senior innovation economist and director of Middle East operations for SRI International's Center for Science, Technology, and Economic Development. Based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Mohapatra focuses on economics of innovation and technology-based development in the Middle East. He specializes in technology policy, innovation, and economic competitiveness. His areas of expertise include technology diffusion and deployment, analysis of economic foundations and technological infrastructure, technology program design, implementation and evaluation, and econometric modeling.
A sample of his experience includes design and implementation of the Technology Innovation Centers (TIC) Program for the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST); advisory services for a high-level committee on creation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s National Innovation Ecosystem; and design and implementation of the first national ICT Incubator in Saudi Arabia.
Trained as an electrical engineer, Mohapatra has more than 10 years of experience in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. He holds two advanced degrees: a Master of Science in Public Policy and an MBA in strategic management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Sambalpur University in India.
