In Vivo Assessment of Pain

SRI currently offers in vivo models for both acute and chronic pain.

Acute Pain

Acute models include:

• Tail flick test
• Formalin test
• Carageenan-induced inflammation/hyperalgesia

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain models include:

• Complete Freund's adjuvant-induced arthritis
• Peripheral mononeuropathy (Bennett model)*
• Diabetic neuropathy (streptozotocin model)*

*Von Frey test and/or paw withdrawal are used to assess allodynia.
