Immunotoxicology
Evaluation of effects on immune function is an essential component of safety evaluation of new drugs and biotechnology products. Capabilities include detection and measurement of acute and chronic immunotoxic effects of new chemicals, drugs, biopharmaceuticals, and environmental contaminants, as well as evaluation of the immunomodulatory effects of small-molecule synthetic drugs, peptides, and nucleic-acid-based biotherapeutics such as antisense agents.
Both immunotoxicity and immunoefficacy can be assessed using in vitro and in vivo assays of immune function. Either standard or customized protocols are available to meet client and partner needs.
The following assays are currently available:
- In vivo evaluation of immune response
- In vitro evaluation of immune response
- Innate immunity
- T-cell function
- B-cell function
- Host resistance models
Regulatory compliance is an essential aspect of the development of new therapeutic agents. All assays can be conducted in accordance with worldwide regulatory requirements and in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations. Our Quality Assurance (QA) unit verifies the integrity of all GLP-studies.
SRI has tailored its immunology and immunotoxicology program to the needs of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. We can address the requirements for identification and quantification of the effects of both chemical and biological substances on immune function.
