In Vivo Assessment of Pain
SRI currently offers in vivo models for Acute and Neuropathic Pain, including Inflammatory Models of Hyperalgesia.
Acute Pain Models:
- Tail flick test
(Radiant heat or warm water tail immersion)
- Plantar test (Hargreaves’ method) using radiant heat stimulus
- Hot-plate test (paw withdrawal)
- Formalin test (Phase I an II response(s))
- Orofacial formalin test
Chronic Pain Models:
- Chronic constriction injury ―CCI, Bennett Model*
- Spinal nerve ligations ―SNL, Chung Model*
- Streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic neuropathy*
Inflammatory Models:
- Complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) injections to the hind paw*
- Carrageenan injections to the hind paw*
* Radiant heat stimulus (Hargreaves’ method) is used to measure thermal hyperalgesia, and/or von Frey Test is used to measure mechanical allodynia.
Compound delivery include: Intrathecal catheter (Yaksh's method), kidney capsule, intravenous, oral, subcutaneous, intradermal, intranasal, patch implant, Alzet and/or external pump placement. Please ask if you need a custom design method of delivery.
