National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service Experience
SRI's Envirotechnical Program has many years of experience providing environmental compliance services to National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). Our program assists NESDIS in long-term planning, development of new facilities, and removal of outdated facilities at the two main satellite tracking facilities operated by NESDISWallops Command and Data Acquisition Station (CDAS) in Wallops, Virginia, and the Fairbanks CDAS in Fox, Alaska. We have prepared NEPA documents and obtained environmental approvals and permits for a number of proposed construction projects at these two stations. We have also performed Phase 1 and 2 environmental due diligence studies for lands that NESDIS proposed to acquire in order to expand the stations and their buffer areas. We also designed and installed exhibits describing the NESDIS mission and the colorful history of the station for the Visitors Center at the Fairbanks CDAS.
