Department of Defense/U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Program

SRI's Envirotechnical Program has prepared several National Environmental Policy Act documents in conformance with requirements contained in Navy Environmental and Natural Resource Program Manual (OPNAVINST 5090.1B). We prepared environmental assessments for the following projects proposed by the Strategic Systems Program:

Trident I (C-4) Motor Storage at Camp Navajo, Arizona Army National Guard, Bellemont, Arizona
Marine Mammal Security System at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia
Weapons Security Actions at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia
Weapons Security Actions at Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, Washington

We have also prepared several categorical exclusion documents for minor projects. The impact analyses undertaken for these projects addressed a number of issues including hazardous materials handling and safety, removal of habitat for endangered and threatened species, potential take of marine mammals and sea turtles, potential disturbance of archaeological resources, wetlands removal and replacement, emissions and control of air pollutants, and topographic alteration and movement of large quantities of soil and fill. The environmental documents were reviewed and approved by the appropriate Navy regional environmental office and the Office of Chief of Naval Operations.
