Battlefield Awareness and Data Dissemination (BADD)

Battlefield Awareness Data Distribution ACTD In a 2-year project for DARPA, SRI supported the Battlefield Awareness Data Distribution (BADD) Advanced Concepts Technical Demonstration (ACTD). The mission of the BADD ACTD program is to provide a system to manage and intelligently disseminate information to warfighters. This system will be dynamically tailorable to changing conditions, giving warfghters an accurate, timely, and consistent picture of the battlefield and enabling commanders to synchronize their forces and communicate their intentions.

SRI provided initial systems engineering and integration (SE&I) support; developed a system architecture; implemented a reliable protocol to support multicasting; modified the Centre Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire (CERN) Web server to support multicasting; implemented specific software modules to interface to specific external information technology systems; developed training documentation; and participated in several field trials and demonstrations of the BADD ACTD.
