Color Printing

In response to the increasing market demand for color printing, SRI sought a method of fast, high-quality copying. Drawing on its earlier pioneering work on liquid-toner copier systems, SRI developed a novel set of toners that allow printing of each color in rapid succession - with no drying time between colors. These toners eliminate the historic problems of staining, color overlaps, and uneven density. With investment from Commtech (a venture capital firm) and Colorep (a startup company), SRI developed a liquid-toner copier system that achieves near-magazine-quality reproduction for both short-run printing and electronic duplication of snapshots for the photographic market.
