SRI to Manage World's Largest Single-Dish Radio Telescope

The world's largest, most sensitive single-dish radio telescope, the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, will be managed, operated, and maintained by an SRI-led team. The National Science Foundation has awarded SRI a five-year cooperative agreement valued at approximately $42 million. SunBay Digital Mathematics Receives Next-Generation Learning Challenges Award

SunBay Digital Mathematics, a two-year collaboration between the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and SRI, with Pinellas County schools, has received a $500,000 award from the Next Generation Learning Challenges collaboration. The program's goal is to increase student success in middle school math through a technology-enhanced curriculum and teacher professional development.

Sleep Loss in Preschoolers May Cause ADHD Symptoms

Young adults, children, and preschoolers who do not get enough sleep are more likely to be hyperactive and inattentive in kindergarten, exhibiting attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)-like symptoms, according to a recent SRI study of 6,860 children. SRI's Erika Gaylor, Ph.D., is the study's lead author.

TrapIt Launches Private Beta for Content Discovery

One of SRI's latest ventures, TrapIt, has announced the private beta of its web application for personalized content discovery, delivery, and curation. TrapIt is the latest offspring of SRI's CALO (Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizes) project, the largest artificial intelligence project in U.S. history.
