Altius Space Machines Wins Competition with "Sticki Boom" Powered by SRI's Electroadhesion
Aviation Week
Altius Space Machines, a company developing a FedEx-style delivery system to the space station, has won the 2011 Heinlein New Space Business Plan competition, run by the Space Frontier Foundation. Altius business plan includes use of an extendable "sticky boom" to capture and retrieve nanosats, enabling a "Direct to Station" concept for just-in-time small package deliveries. The "sticky boom" uses electrostatic adhesion technology developed by SRI.
Is the New Breed of Energy Catalyzers Ready for Commercialization?
Cleantech Blog
The field of low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR), formerly referred to as "cold fusion", is heating up again. Among the pioneers with a shot at commercialization is Energetics Technologies, whose waveform process of LENR was profiled in an April 2009 episode of 60 Minutes. The process has been successfully replicated by SRI and ENEA, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies.
