John Allen
Program Director, Remote Sensing Program

John Allen is the program director for the Remote Sensing Program at SRI International. In this role, he leads projects in digital signal processing and algorithm development. He has also led studies of electro-optical system availability, strategic laser communications availability, simulation of IR cloud clutter scenes, and algorithm performance evaluation for electro-optical sensor collections. He has worked on computer modeling of air defense systems, and on projects that analyze computerized mail forwarding and development of network flow algorithms.

Allen has experience in applied probability and statistics, digital signal processing and communication, information theory, and computer and mathematical techniques. Previously, he was a calculus instructor at the University of California, Davis. He also conducted operations research at the University of California, Berkeley.

He has completed graduate courses in information theory and signal processing at Stanford University and published numerous symposium papers and technical reports. Allen received his M.S. in operation research from the University of California, Berkeley, and his B.S. with honors in mathematics from the University of California, Davis.
