Department Of Defense Appoints SRI International VP To Defense Science Board
Menlo Park, Calif. (April 15, 1998) -- Silicon Valley-based SRI International today announced that Michael S. Frankel, Vice President and Director of the Information, Telecommunications, and Automation Division has been selected to serve on the Defense Science Board of the Department of Defense.
As a member of the Board, Frankel will provide independent advice to the Department of the Defense on critical and timely issues relating to science and technology. Frankel's three-year term continues through 2000. Frankel has most recently served as Chairman of the U.S. Army Science Board, where he advised top-ranking army officials.
Frankel, who joined SRI in 1974, has authored or co-authored more than two textbooks, seventy technical reports and twenty publications in technical journals. Last year , Frankel was elected by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) to the prestigious rank of Fellow in recognition for his leadership in the design of command, control and communications systems. Frankel received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
