Augmented reality, mixing the virtual with real world, is used for multiple applications such as training warfighters and security personnel, playing games and providing timely information to users. It can significantly reduce costs for training purposes, since it does not require the use of equipment, materials, or the need to hire role players. In this podcast, SRI's Teddy Kumar, Ph.D., discusses how augmented reality is emerging into the marketplace, and why there is so much interest in using it on smartphones and emerging eyewear.
