Bioinformatics Tools for Advanced Genome Analysis

In this podcast, Peter Karp, director of SRI's Bioinformatics Research Group, explains how genome sequencing, an experimental biology technique for determining the sequence of chemicals in a DNA molecule, has been advanced by bioinformatics. Using mathematical models and tools at the intersection of biology and informatics, researchers can make sense of all of the DNA data now available, and interpret data to let us know more about thousands of organisms. These studies are advancing drug development and the development of biofuels.
