A recent SRI International study presented data collected from parents, teachers, and children on the children's behavior, sleep patterns, and overall development. The data were used to compare night-time sleep and attention and hyperactivity during the day. Children reported to sleep less when they were in preschool were later found to be less attentive and more hyperactive in kindergarten. Preliminary analyses suggest that not getting enough sleep can exacerbate attention problems and hyperactivity symptoms.
