Sarnoff Corporation Accredited as a Trusted Foundry for the U.S. Department of Defense
October 22, 2007
Sarnoff Corporation today announced that its silicon wafer foundry is now accredited by the Department of Defense Trusted Access Program Office as a Microelectronics Trusted Source for DoD and all other U.S. government users. Sarnoff, who has already earned the Defense Supply Center Columbus Supplier Excellence Gold Award for maintaining the highest performance standards, will provide its extensive experience and capabilities in integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing for trusted applications.
The trusted foundry program was established in response to the increasing closure of U.S.-based wafer foundries and the decreasing ability to obtain national security electronics. With this accreditation Sarnoff offers the DoD and Government agencies a secure on-shore, QML certified, wafer foundry for military quality microelectronics. Sarnoff’s wafer foundry is a versatile source of silicon processing with a record of proven success.
“For more than 30 years, Sarnoff has consistently delivered on-demand, cost-effective products that adhere to the U.S. government’s most demanding safety and performance requirements,” said Dr. Don Newsome, president and chief executive officer of Sarnoff Corporation. “Now a DoD accredited foundry, Sarnoff will build upon our current volume of work as a trusted source for the military’s unique IC and microelectronics needs.”
Sarnoff’s wafer foundry has a diverse array of technologies, including: CMOS, BiCMOS, silicon-on-sapphire (SOS), silicon-on-insulator (SOI), and bipolar processing. The foundry routinely handles demanding applications, such as microcircuit emulation, radiation-hardened ICs, CCD and CMOS imagers, MEMs based sensors, and MOSFET power devices for both Government and commercial applications.
