Sarnoff to Demonstrate New Iris on the Move® Systems at Biometric Consortium Conference 2008
September 17, 2008
Sarnoff Corporation, a leading provider of biometric iris imaging technology, will hold live demonstrations of its Drive-Through and new Compact Iris on the Move® (IOM) iris capture systems at the Biometric Consortium Conference 2008 in Tampa, Florida, in Sarnoff’s booth, #525.
IOM is a proven iris image capture system that quickly images the iris of a person in motion and at comfortable distances. The technology combines the extraordinary security of iris recognition with the speed and convenience of a pass-through system. While other iris scanning technologies require users to stop and stare directly into a scanner, IOM technology operates differently. It captures the iris images at high speeds using patent-pending Sarnoff technology, allowing subjects to move quickly through security checks.
The Drive-Through and Compact systems join Sarnoff’s Iris on the Move Portal for a complete line of fast and reliable iris capture verification systems. With verification pass-through speeds of up to 30 people per minute, Sarnoff’s IOM systems offer a full range of fast and reliable access control solutions tailored to fit the individual needs of users.
The Drive-Through System uses IOM technology to identify drive-up vehicle operators without the need to exit the car. The system uses Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) technology to capture iris images of drivers while they remain in their vehicles, keeping both operators and users out of harm’s way. In addition, the system’s remote image capture is effective on vehicles of all sizes, making it ideal for identification at vehicle check points found at border crossings, transportation facilities, and sensitive government locations.
The new Compact System is a low-cost, miniaturized device that captures iris images from moving subjects using the same IOM technology found in our larger systems. With dimensions comparable to a brick, the system is ideal for applications where space is an issue. The device is capable of processing 12 people per minute and works up to 3 feet away making it practical for use in ATMs, airport check-in counters, or motor vehicle registration.
“Current identity verification solutions are cumbersome, take too long and create queues, which is not only inconvenient, but presents a security risk,” said Dr. Don Newsome, President and CEO of Sarnoff Corporation. “The new Compact and Drive-Through IOM systems build on over a decade of Sarnoff biometric experience to bring fast, easy-to-use, and reliable identity verification wherever secure entry is required.”
Live demonstrations of the Drive-Through and Compact systems will take place during BCC show hours from Tuesday, September 23 to Thursday, September 25 at the Tampa Convention Center.
