SRI International to Deliver First-Ever SRI "Discipline of Innovation" Workshop in Tampa Bay Area

TAMPA, FLA. – September 12, 2007 – The Tampa Bay Technology Forum, Central Florida’s premier technology industry association, today announced that it will co-host with SRI International the first-ever SRI Discipline of Innovation Workshop to be held in the region. The workshop will take place at The Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg on October 10, 2007. 

SRI’s world-renowned Discipline of Innovation workshop, normally a week long and held at the SRI campus in the heart of Silicon Valley, will be presented in an accelerated one-day format to provide local executives and their teams with the skills required to maximize return on research and development investments and create compelling value for customers and organizations.

Peter Marcotullio, director of Business Development at SRI International, and William J. Wilmot, co-creator of the SRI Discipline of Innovation Workshop and co-author with SRI’s president and chief executive officer, Curtis R. Carlson, of Innovation: The Five Disciplines for Creating What Customers Want, will lead the workshop. 

Many world-leading organizations have already participated in the workshop over the past seven years, including NTT, the world’s largest telecommunications company, headquartered in Japan; the British Broadcasting Corporation, the highly regarded news and entertainment media organization; Nuance, a U.S. leader in speech-based solutions; and Industrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan’s leading research and development organization.

Menlo Park, Calif.-“based SRI International, one of the world's leading independent research and technology development organizations, began operating SRI St. Petersburg in January 2007. Steps away from the USF St. Petersburg campus, SRI St. Petersburg focuses on research and development, technology transfer, and commercialization of marine technology. Over time, SRI St. Petersburg is expected to broaden local research collaborations into additional areas such as biosciences, nanotechnology, energy, the environment and education.
