SRI Sarnoff Introduces Portable Iris on the Move® Camera System for Identity Enrollment and Authentication

MENLO PARK, Calif. - March 27, 2012 - SRI Sarnoff has introduced the Iris on the Move (IOM) RapID-Cam II, a handheld, biometric enrollment and identity verification camera system. The self-contained camera can enroll subjects into the database by capturing dual-iris and facial images in less than 30 seconds. Once subjects are enrolled, the system verifies identity in less than one second.

The RapID-Cam II can easily be operated using one hand, and puts the body of the user at a comfortable distance from the subject. In addition, the camera is capable of accessing local and networked databases wirelessly for subject identification, and supports multiple back-end algorithms. The portable device allows for numerous security applications—from pre-registering individuals as they wait in line at an entertainment venue or military checkpoint to enabling police officers on patrol to quickly identify subjects of interest.
