Threat Detection System from SRI International Sarnoff Named Best in Video Surveillance Advanced Imaging

VerifIR threat detection system A new solution for physical security, SRI Sarnoff’s VerifIR™ threat detection system, was named Best in Video Surveillance Advanced Imaging Technologies in the New Product Showcase at ISC West by the Security Industry Association (SIA).

The VerifIR stand-off camera system displays real-time visible/IR fused video to find and characterize hidden threats in crowd-congested areas. Not only are concealed objects detected, the system helps distinguish who is wearing the concealed objects as the individual moves through the environment, e.g., the man in the green shirt. The VerifIR’s patent-pending design provides actionable information to security and other personnel, even while a subject, the camera, or both are in motion. It is the only fused camera suitable for use on a moving vehicle.

“The security industry is constantly evolving, so we strive to deliver products that address the industry’s changing requirements,” said Mark Clifton, vice president of the Products and Services Division at SRI. “SRI Sarnoff is proud to win a New Product Showcase award for the second year in a row.”

VerifIR can detect hidden threats with its IR capabilities, while also showing fine details such as the subject’s face, hair, or clothing colors and patterns at distances of up to 40 meters. Its unique single lens design allows ghost- and halo-free fused video. With additional options such as zoom and remote control, VerifiR is ideal for detecting hidden weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), or other threats in large gatherings, such as sporting or high profile events.
