Genetic Toxicology
SRI International has been a leader in the fields of genetic toxicology and mechanisms of carcinogenesis since the 1970s. We conduct testing of new pharmaceuticals, biotechnology products, and other test substances in a variety of assays. We are thoroughly familiar with the regulatory requirements of the Food and Drug Administration, European and Japanese regulatory agencies, and can advise clients accordingly.
SRI offers the following array of test systems:
- Microbial mutagenesis assays including the Salmonella/microsome (Ames test) and E. coli mutation assays
- Mouse lymphoma gene mutation assays
- Transgenic rodent mutagenesis assays (Big BlueŽ)
- Chromosome aberrations in CHO, human lymphocytes, rodent bone marrow, and spermatogonial cells
- Micronucleus assays in bone marrow, peripheral blood, and various human cells
- Unscheduled DNA synthesis (UDS) in isolated hepatocytes from rodents or other animals or in human or animal hepatocytes, following in vitro or in vivo treatment
Automated Data Systems
Our laboratories utilize state-of-the-art computer data acquisition systems. Data summary for nearly all assays is performed automatically on completion of data collection, allowing rapid study turnaround.
