Research on the Effects of Alcohol Dependence on the Brain and Its Functions
SRI International in Menlo Park, CA is investigating the effects of alcohol use on brain structure and function.
Research participants needed
- Men and women, ages 25-75 years
- With or without a history of alcohol dependence
All participants will be paid depending upon the number of research procedures
completed.
Brain structure will be measured from images of the brain produced by magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI). The MRI images are reviewed by a radiologist, and the scan report can be made available to your physician upon your request.
Brain function will be assessed using pen and paper as well as computer tests measuring
cognitive, motor,
and sensory functions as well as with functional MRI and MR spectroscopy.
All participants will also receive a physical exam to assess general health.
