Fuel Cell and Semifuel Cell Systems
Fuel cell work in the Materials & Processes group focuses on the design, construction and testing
of medium- and high-temperature fuel cells and semifuel cells, reformation systems, and components. These
include, for example, solid state cells, which employ both single and bilayer electrolytes; molten carbonate; phosphoric acid;
zinc-halogen and silicon-air systems. Emphasis is on integrated (fuel-reformer-fuel-cell)
systems, and issues related mitigating of materials degradation.
