School + Community Partnerships

SRI supports communities’ efforts to identify and mobilize resources to address identified needs. Our research makes the most of place-based education initiatives, school-community partnerships, and other community-building strategies. Our evaluations document strengths, identify best practices, measure outcomes attained, and provide information that can be used to further strengthen communities’ work. They also can serve as evidence in accountability and fundraising efforts.

Expertise ranges from participatory evaluations carried out with schools and local organizations to multisite, multiyear, randomized field experiments. SRI education researchers provide technical assistance and produce guidebooks on how evaluation can strengthen a community, its capacity, and social capital.

SRI also assists program developers, such as foundations and other funders, in conceptualizing the key components of community-based efforts and place-based learning, and articulating pathways to expected outcomes.
