Advanced Technology & Systems
From basic research to advanced systems and product development, the Advanced Technology and Systems Division manages complex projects for government and commercial clients. The division advances the state of the art in diverse areas such as chemistry, physics, and materials science; geospace studies and space and marine technology; surveillance and remote sensing; applied optics and secure circuits; and robotics, medical devices, and nanotechnology.
Together our researchers create world-changing science, technologies, and systems. The division's expert development and systems integration capabilities ensure maximum impact when technology solutions are implemented.
Our talented scientists, engineers, and technicians are organized around specialized laboratories and work on about 200 projects per year. Each lab comprises multiple programs and is vertically integrated—from science to product concepts and prototypes. Click on the “Labs and Centers” tab below to learn more.
Division Tabs
-
In a nuclear or radiological incident, first responders must quickly measure exposure, as treatments are radiation dose-dependent and time-sensitive. SRI is developing a solution.
-
SRI is developing new technology to reliably control thousands of micro-robots for smart manufacturing of macro-scale products in compact, integrated systems.
-
STATIC cools objects in full sun by harvesting the cold sky’s cooling power.
-
SRI is developing a system to manage a person's heating and cooling individually, saving energy by not overheating or overcooling areas within a building where the person is not present.
