Senior Scientist, Webb Laboratory, Medicinal and Synthetic Chemistry
Chandraiah Lagisetti, Ph.D., is involved in the discovery and development of new small molecule spliceosome modulators that are drug leads for the treatment of cancer. Earlier, as a medicinal chemistry research scientist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, he was involved in the synthesis and discovery of small molecules with anti-tumor activity.
At St. Jude, Lagisetti also accomplished design and synthesis of synthetic anti-cancer and pre-clinical leads and developed an efficient scale-up approach.
Lagisetti conducted his postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he developed new routes for the synthesis of isoprenoids and their analogs for biochemical pathway studies. He obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), where he worked on the synthesis of bioactive molecules and developed new reaction methodologies.
He is co-author of 20 peer-reviewed articles and co-inventor of one patent.
