Research Analyst, Center for Learning and Development
Crystal Garcia is involved in projects on early childhood education, school readiness, data systems, and teacher evaluation. Current projects include the Center for IDEA Early Childhood Data Systems (DaSy), Evaluation of the Midwest Expansion of the Child-Parent Center Education Program, West Ed Math Readiness, and The Florida Master Teachers Initiative.
Garcia’s responsibilities include coordinating with schools and programs, collecting qualitative/quantitative data, tracking both large and small data sets, monitoring product development, and disseminating products. In addition, Garcia has conducted child assessments, participated in focus groups, and co-led home visits in both Spanish and English for various projects across research centers.
Before joining SRI, Garcia was an AmeriCorps member for two years. She worked in the area of college access by serving as an advisor for a large cohort of low-income, underserved high school students during her first year, and she coordinated a nonprofit literacy intervention program at an elementary school during her second year.
Garcia holds a B.A in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
