Jeffrey Alexander is associate director for research and analytics in SRI International's Center for Science, Technology, and Economic Development. Alexander's expertise spans a range of topics related to technology analysis, national and regional innovation policy, corporate and government R&D management, and collaborative innovation networks.
Alexander has nearly 20 years of consulting experience, conducting in-depth analyses of high-technology markets, tracking and evaluating R&D strategies and policies, and advising on technology investments and program implementation. His past clients include research institutes, telecommunications service providers, major technology vendors, private equity firms and government agencies from the local to national levels.
He is the co-author of Global and Local Knowledge: Global Transatlantic Public-Private Partnerships for Research and Technology Development (Palgrave MacMillan, 2006) and has published articles in journals such as Research Policy, The Journal of Technology Transfer, Technovation, Nikkei Information Strategy (Japan), and the International Journal of Technology Management.
Prior to joining SRI, Alexander was Chief Knowledge Officer at New Economy Strategies, an economic development consulting firm and, earlier, served as vice president and director of r\esearch at Washington CORE, which provides technology market research and policy analysis to numerous international clients.
Alexander holds a Ph.D. in management and technology from The George Washington University School of Business. He received a B.A. in international relations from Stanford University, where he completed the honors program in Science, Technology, and Society.
