John Benskin

Project Leader, Center for Innovation Strategy and Policy

John Benskin, D.M.A., has more than 15 years of experience in research and analysis on a wide variety of public policy topics. He has worked in a variety of roles for government, academic and commercial clients in the United States and abroad, including the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES), the Prime Minister’s Office of the United Arab Emirates, the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP), and Imam University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Benskin has contributed in a variety of roles to recent editions of the National Science Board’s Science and Engineering indicators (SEI) reports. He was the overall project leader for SEI Chapter 7: "Science and Technology: Public Attitudes and Understanding", for the 2018 and 2016 editions, working with NCSES and the lead author, and continues in that role for the development of the 2020 edition of SEI.

Benskin has contributed to the United Arab Emirate’s Edge of Government Innovation Showcase 2016 World Government Summit, worked on the Study of Foreign Researchers in Korean Universities and Government Research Institutes: Status and Policy Issues, and co-authored action plans for the College of Economics & Administrative Sciences, Development of University Education, and Knowledge Exchange & International Communication for the Strategic Plan for Imam University, Riyadh. He has extensive experience in survey design and administration, preparation of case studies on economic indicators, analytical work supporting publications, and organizing workshops.

Benskin holds a D.M.A. in composition from the Catholic University of America.
