Leyi Gong
Program Director, Medicinal Chemistry, Medicinal and Synthetic Chemistry
Leyi Gong, Ph.D., focuses on new opportunities, approaches and collaborations for discovering novel inhibitors and agonist/antagonists for broad-spectrum antibiotics and anti-viral agents, as well as for treating diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
Gong has more than 20 years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry, has led teams in a number of drug discovery programs, and has been awarded 20 patents. She joined SRI in 2010 as a principal scientist/program director to lead drug discovery programs. Before joining SRI, she spent 18 years working for Roche Palo Alto.
Gong earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from University of California, Berkeley, and did postdoctoral training at the University of Toronto and Syntex Research.
