Medicinal Chemist, Medicinal & Synthetic Chemistry

Remy Lemoine, Ph.D., leads medicinal chemistry projects from exploratory, to hit to lead, to lead optimization.

After performing post-doctoral research in synthetic organic chemistry at Stanford University, Lemoine worked for 13 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a medicinal chemist—the last seven years at Roche Palo Alto—prior to joining SRI in 2011. He successfully led and managed teams of chemists that performed critical medicinal chemistry optimization of drug candidates. Most notably, Lemoine's projects culminated in the identification of two clinical drug candidates at Roche Palo Alto and one preclinical candidate at Microcide Pharmaceuticals/Essential Therapeutics. His work in drug discovery has been published in 14 scientific articles, including seven first author articles, and two invited reviews. He is also co-inventor on 11 patents.

Lemoine received a dual B.S. in biochemistry and chemistry from the University of Paris Sud, France, and earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the same university. His academic research work in carbohydrate chemistry and post-graduate work on palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions was published in eight articles.
