Program Director, Sensor Systems Laboratory
Robert Balog, Ph.D., works in R&D program management, successfully leading multidisciplinary teams through research and development to transition to manufacturing of biological sensor systems. He has technical expertise in oligonucleotide synthesis, DNA microarrays, surface functionalization, biomarker classification algorithms, biological sensor and systems development, biological warfare defense, and medical devices.
His current research is focused on the development of automated biological detection systems from sample preparation through detection, biomarker discovery, and radiation biodosimetry.
Balog received his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, his MBA from University of California, Berkeley, and his BE in biomedical engineering and molecular biology from Vanderbilt University.
