Research Analyst, Center for Education Policy
Samantha Astudillo is involved in projects on K–16 education reform and teacher development, most recently the Evaluation of the California Linked Learning District Initiative, the Evaluation of Linked Learning San Bernardino, the Evaluation of Rocketship Students’ Middle School Outcomes and the Evaluation of the California Academic Partnership Program’s (CAPP) Demonstration Project (CDP). Her project responsibilities include conducting background research, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, developing and administering surveys and contributing to written reports for clients.
Prior projects include the Study of the Implementation of California State PTA’s School Smarts Parent Academy Program, which seeks to empower parents and connect them to their local communities, and Teaching and California’s Future, a multiyear study of the teaching profession in California.
Before joining SRI, Astudillo conducted qualitative research at a Bay Area high school as part of her undergraduate honors thesis. Through observations of parent workshops and interviews with parents, program staff, and school administrators, she examined barriers to Latino parent involvement and engagement in the school. Astudillo also spent a year as an English Teaching Assistant in Mexico through the Fulbright Program.
Astudillo holds a B.A in international relations with honors from Stanford University.
