Dr. Jones has nearly 20 years of experience researching the U.S. educational and workforce landscape. At SRI, Dr. Jones leads the National Training, Education, and Workforce Survey (NTEWS) development and collection and the skilled technical workforce (STW) initiative at the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics within the National Science Foundation. Both the NTEWS and STW projects aim to measure and understand the entrance, sustainability, and advancement of the STW—highly technical workers in the STEM industry but do not hold a bachelor’s degree. Before joining SRI, Dr. Jones served as a survey manager for Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a large-scale, national data collection at the National Center for Education Statistics within the Department of Education. Other work includes serving as a research director of policy analysis at various Washington, D.C. educational trade associations. Dr. Jones has produced analytical reports using quantitative and qualitative methods, coordinated large team efforts comprised of federal staff and contractors, presented at national and regional conferences, and led advisory committees and stakeholder meetings. Dr. Jones holds a doctoral and master’s degree in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Sciences from the University of California, Irvine.
