Steve Perna

Steve Perna leads SRI’s Integrated Systems and Solutions Division, which develops and transitions technology IP from lab demonstrations to fielded, supported systems. The division leverages a disciplined system engineering approach integrated with certified structured development and quality processes—CMMI Level 3 and ISO 9001—to achieve client objectives. Focus areas include advanced imaging, integrated systems, microcircuit emulation, and mission solutions/aircraft survivability.

Perna has more than 30 years of experience in government and commercial technology and product development, strategic and business planning, operational management, sales and marketing. He began his SRI career as a member of technical staff, transitioning advanced imaging technologies into products. During his tenure, the imaging business evolved from individual component offerings to integrated hardware and software systems.

As an executive director, Perna oversaw the development, transition, manufacturing, and sales of SRI’s security and surveillance products. More than 15 products were launched under his direction—many of which were recognized by leading security industry groups as technological breakthroughs in surveillance and biometric authentication.

Perna received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the SPIE International Society of Optics and Photonics, the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), and the Association of the US Army (AUSA).
