Introduction

This study sought to characterize the interests, funding sources, and awareness of U.S. community college and workforce researchers about Targeted Research grants offered by the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program.
This study identi!ed 136 researchers who had published and participated in research relating to workforce and technician education, community colleges, and other related topics in the past 2 years. In the summer of 2010, SRI International recruited 102 researchers (75% response rate) to participate in a short online survey featuring up to 22 multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
