Classroom Trials: A Study of Instruction with Writing Software
SRI is examining teachers’ use of software to support writing instruction, and identifying best practices for its use that combine teachers’ “wisdom of practice” and models of productive writing instruction.
Classroom Trials explores how writing software can support writing instruction in the classroom. We are examining the use of three products—Criterion®, PEG Writing®, and Write to Learn®—by teachers experienced with the products and by Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) teachers new to the products. The former will provide common practices and challenges.
LDC teachers will offer insight into how the products can support classrooms in addressing the Common Core State Standards. In combination, these classrooms will enable us to describe use models applicable to a wide range of classrooms across the country.
