Evaluation of IDEA Public Schools’ Race to the Top—District Grant

SRI is studying the implementation and impact of three IDEA Public Schools initiatives designed to individualize learning, funded by the federal Race to the Top-District grant.

In 2012, IDEA Public Schools was one of 16 school districts that received a Race to the Top-District grant. SRI and its subcontractor, Copia Consulting, are evaluating three programs funded by this multi-million dollar grant—an Adaptive Reading Pilot targeting elementary students, a redesigned intervention period for students in grades 6-12, and the Summer Institute for high school students. Each of these programs is intended to support IDEA’s goal to individualize student learning.

The mixed qualitative and quantitative approach encompasses interviews, student focus groups and surveys, and analyses of student data to study outcomes for students participating in these three programs.
