Evaluation of the Library of Congress' Teaching with Primary Sources Program

SRI analyzed this program that helps teachers tap Library materials to design high-quality instruction.

The Library of Congress asked SRI to conduct an evaluation of its Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Program, using a series of surveys and project case studies. The evaluation, completed in September 2012, successfully met all three of its main goals:

  1. The evaluation described the TPS program, including who participates in it, how the program differs across TPS sites, and the extent to which TPS training events are characteristic of high-quality professional development.
  2. The evaluation assessed the extent to which TPS participants attain program goals.
  3. The evaluation determined the extent to which TPS training events influence participants in terms of changes in classroom practice and instruction.
