National Evaluation of the Teacher Incentive Fund
SRI is evaluating the fund, which develops and implements performance-based teacher and principal compensation systems in high-need schools.
To fill in gaps in knowledge about educator compensation reform and describe implementation of a complex and innovative federal initiative, SRI launched a study in 2008 of the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher Incentive Fund, which seeks to reform educator compensation to reward effectiveness, steer effective educators to high-need schools and content areas, and support ongoing school and educator improvement.
The study has included telephone interviews with individuals in all 34 program grantees, case studies in a sample of sites, analysis of educator payout data, and surveys of teachers and principals.
