Strategies for Preparing At-Risk Youth for Postsecondary Success
Strategies that engage at-risk students in their learning, moving beyond dropout prevention to postsecondary success.
Inequitable educational opportunities and outcomes and the growing insufficiency of a high school diploma to afford a family-sustaining wage motivated this study funded by the U.S. Department of Education. From a review of empirical studies and national nominations, SRI screened and selected a national sample of case study sites that successfully identified students at risk of dropping out and equipped them to pursue postsecondary education. The study produced practical lessons for the field, drawn from across the case studies.
